Real quick on the plus side, terrific tournaments for Dokic, Zvonareva and Simon. Given the weakness of the WTA, Dokic may join Zvonareva on a gallop into the Top 10. And I can’t believe Simon has worked himself from a Top 200 player to a Top 10er. Awesome stuff.
On to the sad state of affairs in the tennis game. Exactly why aren’t they moving the Australian Open to March??? 141...

The disgraceful tennis television coverage continues at the Australian Open on ESPN2 and Tennis Channel.
I am writing this on the middle Saturday of the tournament - last evening the networks showed a Murray/Melzer blowout, including a 6-0 second set, and only after that excruciating match ended, switched to a Dementieva/Stosur straight setter, while almost totally ignoring a 5 set thriller between Gonzalez and Gasquet.
